I can safely say, with my car buying habits, I will probably never see one of these. I still doubt they

will get into cars any time soon.

Like Hank Rearden said, the EEC in all cars in the US, at least, carry more information than you would

imagine. I spent the money for a tool just to register a battery for a BMW and reset all the maintenance

and diagnostics. Newer BMWs won't run if the computer doesn't like the messages all those sensors

send it. Ford has gotten to the point that a trip to Advance or Autozone to reset something may or may

not work on anything more than an O2 sensor.

If our current Congress is considering this, which I doubt, it needs to be fought long and hard against

because of privacy issues and added per vehicle cost, if not a million other things.
