View New Content Not Working?

Yesterday, I commented on 3 or 4 threads. In the past, when others post to these threads, it would pop up in the view new content section. Now, it does nothing.

All it says for me is sorry no new content found, even if i modify the options on the side menu to topics I participated in.

I have had this happen once or three times since the changover.

Reloading the page from the main forum page always made it work again.

If i hit new content from my message box it shows me new members who signed up recently.

What Mike said is true. New Content is context sensitive.

I noticed that too...for those that may be less savvy about this than others, when you push that button, it scans for new content in whatever area you were last in, i.e. if like Mike 357 said, you were looking at a profile or something, then you just need to first click on forums then new content.

One kinda similar thing. Lately I run IE9 "locked down" minimal cookies, no popups, no history or passwords between sessions etc. Locked down almost as strong as "in private browsing". Didn't mind typing the password on each signin, but a signin would stay "hot" unless I quit IE or rebooted the puter.

Worked fine for awhile but then got to sometimes signing me out even if I hadn't rebooted IE9. So if I didn't notice I'd got signed out, the "new content" would be generic with also generic timestamps, rather than customized to my history. Probably interaction of my settings with an automatic IE update or whatever.

Fixed it by fiddling with the IE settings to allow TGO more privileges than the typical website. Pretty sure that problem would be the fault of IE9 and/or the settings, rather than TGO. It can just catch one by surprise if one thinks he is signed in when in fact that is no longer the case.

For a while, selecting "View New Content" would pull up with the "New Since My Last Visit" view. It seems that it has now defaulted to the "Content I Have Not Read" view, and I must select "New Since My Last Visit." Something changed there . . . oh well.

I think I finally got mine working again...I went in and messed with the notification settings.
