Scoping a Mosin?

i am wondering what is the best way to scope a Mosin

You can get a mount that replaces the rear sight with no permanent modification to the rifle. Put a long relief scope on it and you're in business.

Brass Stacker makes the best 91/30 mount that I know about. Hard to find a quality scope that will work. Scout scopes and pistol scopes work best. If you are scoping a 91/30 you'll need 8+ inches minimum of eye relief.

Depressing that friggin spring that is under the rear sight requires more than one set of hands.

I should say, it is when you are re-installing something to the rear sight base.

This is one of the sturdiest mounts out there, but you do have to drill and tap the reciver

If I remember correctly the Rock Solid requires the bolt handle modification. I don't think it will work with the stock handle. Definitely would be nice to use a standard scope though.

I should say, it is when you are re-installing something to the rear sight base.

I just added a mount and scope on mine last weekend. Even with two sets of hands, I couldn't get it installed with the spring. I ended up sliding the spring out and filing the edge of the rail a bit to line up the pin hole.

No instructions were provided so I just made best guesses. The rail seems very solid without the spring. Was the spring supposed to stay in?

That is really nicely done. Most reworked mosins look like rejects for a pimp my mosin tv show, this one is just clean and simple. One of the best I have seen lately.

Tempest- where did you get that stock? That is one of the best looking Mosins I have seen. It looks like a very nice hunting rifle.

TN- I like the brass stacker because it allows you to keep the iron sights useable for short quick shots.
