I get the feeling after reading this article that there is a completely different side of the story that it's not reporting.

Yeah, the state is shutting down those farmers/ranchers who raise feral hogs. I'm not educated enough on the subject to say whether or not it's a good idea, but I have heard that these type of hogs can cause major destruction.

Any hog can do a lot of damage. Go look at a hog farm. I didn't see any mention of them being feral. Is

there a link to that?

I have to admit, it did hurt a bit to imagine a farmer having to execute his baby pigs. I'm no PETA nut and I love pork but I do have a soft spot for animals.

Was there a law passed that necessitated the warrants or what? Somethings amiss.

I remeber farmers near where I grew up complaining recently about having to sell off a certain breed of pigs before it became illegal to own them. I will see if I can get more info. I know that they had PLENTY of time to sell them off. I had a discussion about 2-3 yrs ago about the law passing and they were being given a long grace period. I think that the fact they were still breeding this certain breed was the problem. I don't think it was the right thing that the DNR did but I do think there is another side to the story.

Read the whole article. There's more to this than may meet the eye. I doubt it has much to do with just "feral" hogs.

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2007-01-25-pork_x.htm Unless they were people raising hogs to release

into the wild, it may be something quite different.

I've heard of Berkshire chops. Didn't know where they came from, though. Could be that these farmers were very

legitimate.
