Surplus 7.62x39

Recommended Posts

Is it me or is the brass cased 7.62x39 surplus drying up. . I know its an election year and all. . but theres hardly any yugo m67 left (sgammo has some but $129.99 for 520 rounds is higher than groceries to me). . the Bulgarian seems to have all dried up too. .AIM been out for a while and I noticed Classic Arms doesnt have it on their website anymore. Is there somewhere to check that I'm missing? I'm not hurting I've got 1400 rounds of the Bulgarian a little of the yugo left and about 1000 rounds of steel cased stuff but I'd like to rathole a little more. . .

Tell me about it. When AIM had the Yugo on strippers for .17 a round, that was good times. Waiting for it to come back but that may be a while, if ever. I'm sure there are huge supplies still sitting in armories all throughout the former Eastern Bloc, hopefully they will make their way here. Tula from WalMart at .27 per just doesn't cut it.

I miss that yugo at AIM. . Ive got about 500 rounds of it left counting whats loaded in mags. .heres to hope. . .I gave more for the Bulgarian than I wanted to when I got it from AIM but heck I was afraid not to get it. .I'll shoot the steel cased stuff. .I compare it to make out with an ugly woman. . it'll work but it just dont just quite hit the spot and you damn sure dont want your friends to see you doing it. . lol. . But 27 cents a round is crazy for steel cased. I'd hate to think Id have to sell my Polytech to get an AR because the ammo's cheaper. . crazy times. .

I'm like you Mike. . why. . .why. . .why? I guess the $129.99 at SG for 520 aint bad considering the current climate. . I'm wantin to put in some serious time and get "right" with my Poly. . but I dont to crack those Bulgarian cans I want to keep those in case something really drastic happens. . .I just checked SG no longer has it now says. . notify when back in stock. . .wow. . .I dont know how much they started with but its only been on their site for about a week. . I noticed Classic Arms still shows it as in stock on their order page so I went ahead an ordered a 700 round can. . their shipping is a little high. .was $25.00 for a 35 lb can from NC to TN but it appears to be the best option

Garufa. you are scaring me is the 1999 stamped Bulgarian more corrosive that the yugo m67?

I have no idea if it's corrosive or not. When that stuff came out none of the dumb-ass peddlers of it would say yes or no to corrosive. They would only say it "might" be. It doesn't take all that much to test it.

After my last purchase of commercial "non corrosive" 7.62 Russian ammo I consider it all corrosive and clean accordingly.

if it might have come out of a spam can or comes out of a sealed sardine tin treat it as if it is corrosive.

If you bought it under the KSAP banner consider it corrosive.

Never had a problem with ammo out of a Wolf box.

I hear ya mike on the frenzy and potential for corrosion...my buddy robert farnsworth down at farnsworth firearms...was telling me the corrosive nature of the yugo was so mild that it wasnt really any different from non corrosive...and i listened and about 2 weeks later it waz a 0000 steel wool and hoppes # 9 party for the maadi arm i had at the time....roberts a good man and always done me right...but he missed that one...lol

Your absolutely right garufa. . it just means youll be "mildly" scrubbing the rust off your mess. . and Mike I'm like you I dont clean any differently when dealing with corrosive ammo I just make sure I do it soon . . .@ Garufa I dont know if Ive ever mentioned it before but I love the "Fred Garvin Male Prostitute" avy you got there. . "compliments of great lakes feed and grain". . .lol

So I was playing with the can opener for the Bulgarian ammo spam cans. . you know. . seeing how it works. . as Ive never bought them before and man it works good. . cause I actually poked a hole in the can with very little effort. . so I went ahead and opened it up. Pretty good lookin ammo. . copper washed and sealed at both the primer and bullet to casing. . .looks like would be very good long term storage ammo

Oh gosh yes i can remember when wolf was so cheap ...heck if you had a bunch in your pocket after shooting and you already put your stuff up id just give em away rather than have to open your stuff back up to put it away...

Going back to that Yugo ammo, that is some dirty stuff! It takes me forever to clean my sks after running 100 rounds of that ammo through it, but I am sorta ocd about how I clean my guns anyway so that could be part of it.
