You will over-insert a Glock 17 spare mag in your 19 and this will get you killed in a fight for your life! I've heard more than a few folks spout this one, in person and on the Interwebz. Here's my response. :D Enjoy!

where did this rumor start? I swear there are gremlins on the web that make up stuff just to start dumb rumors. Recently heard one that gangstas were putting a hand behind the slide so the brass wouldnt eject (no evidence that way, lol). I hope they are doing that, so they only shoot once and get a busted hand for their troubles.... but I doubt its more than just internet spew.

The only way the use of a G17 magazine in a G19 or G26 will get you killed is if you try attacking someone carrying one of the aforementioned guns.

Paul great vid, but I have a question, can you explain about the cut off mag well on the 19? Thanks for any info and again great video.

I cut the grip frame to support ripping the mag out when dealing with a one-hand Failure To Extract [aka double feed]. You can see how I do it in this clip:

It won't bust your hand. Try it some time.

It is strongly advised to test every magazine you plan on using in your weapon. I knew a trusted source that reported troubles with using a full size mag in a particular subcompact. It was determined to be troublesome due to a shift while gripping it. I have never experienced the problem myself with 1000's of rounds with extended mags.
