First AR: should I buy the whole gun or build from parts?

have been thinking about my first ar too, my thoughts were to buy a complete rifle, M&P 15 Sport,first, learn about how it works, then put together a suppressed sbr ar :pleased:

Yes, good idea, but it may be more challenging at this time to actually find an M&P Sport available for purchase than to build an AR from parts. :eek:

Building the lower on mine is what I did. Plus that way I got the upper I wanted (which is more important)... the BCM EAG Tactical 14.6" with battle comp 1.5 pinned. Just check out all the specialized uppers at BCM (BravoCompanyUsa).

BTW I don't recommend pinned flash hiders to increase your OAL, since it sucks when you want to change a gas block, or quad rail, etc... just get a 16" barrel.

starting to find this out, franklin gun shop had one yesterday but it was 849, i'll wait, but only so long

As this is your first AR, you don't know what you don't know.

I'd want to become familar with the AR, before attempting to improve something I knew nothing about.
