Snake!!!!

Are you intending to display, exhibit, handle, or use a poisonous or dangerous snake or reptile in a manner that endangers the life or health of any person?

Is it intending to do any of this to you? I don't like snakes. Can't stand them to be precise, but if I can get away from it I don't see a reason to hurt it. Then again, if one was in my back yard there is a good chance that it is going to harm me, my family or my animals. It will not list.

I can kill it in the grass.

I can kill it with just one blast.

I would kill it before it killed me

and hang it's carcass from a big old tree!

:rolleyes::death::popcorn::death::death::death::death::death::death:

Its illegal to kill any snake in TN? Maybe Im just the gullible guy who just moved here...but uh..are you serious? What if that snake is in your backyard?

Don't matter, killin one is illegal. period.

I know I am making an assumption, but I believe that you, dralarms, don't care for snakes.

Nah, what ever gave you that idea? It's nothing for me to walk out in my yard carrying my Taurus judge just to go mow the yard. Can't stand a snake, no sir re bob.

But if its in your backyard and you fear for your life or heak....your little dogs..can ya kill it?
That becomes self defense. If you ask me I'll kill all I can find in my yard and claim self defense.

Wildlife laws not my thing, having some trouble finding somethings I have before, but here are some relevant ones I've seen.

70-4-102 Illegal taking, possession or destruction of wildlife — Penalty for violations.

(a) It is unlawful for any person to hunt, kill, trap, ensnare, or destroy, or to attempt to hunt, kill, trap, ensnare, or destroy, or to have in such person's possession, any form of wildlife except subject to the restrictions and by the means and devices and at the time prescribed by this title.

( Any violations of the proclamations and rules and regulations proclaimed by the wildlife resources commission are punishable as provided in this title, and the illegal taking or possession of each bird, animal or fish constitutes a separate offense.

© A violation of this section is a Class B misdemeanor.

70-4-115 Destruction and disposal of wildlife — Permit — Penalty.

(a) The owner of lands may destroy any wild animals, wild birds, or wild fowl when such wild animals, wild birds, or wild fowl are destroying property upon such lands. Any person, before destroying any big game under the conditions provided for in this section, is required to obtain a permit for destroying such big game. Such permit shall be issued by an officer of the wildlife resources agency.

Maybe the law has changed but I guarantee I have read that it is illegal to kill any snake in this state.

I would not be making it up.

It was a few years ago. I was riding the four wheeler out in the big hayfield. I saw a critter doing something and could not make out what was going on. I rode towards the critter. I got to about ten feet from it and it was an possum with his two front hands/paws death gripping a big ass snake. He was obviously trying to kill the snake. And he was way more worried about that snake than he was about me on the quad. I raced home to get a camera to take a pic. When I got back the snake was dead as could be and the possum was gone. I took the wife back out later on and the snake was gone too. I guess the possum came back to take the snake home for dinner. Anyway I took the pic of the snake and used the internet to ID it. While IDing the snake I found the thing about killing snakes in TN. I believe it was off a fish and wildlife website. But like I said it was three or four years ago.

Personally I find it humorous that grown adults squeal and act like little girls when it comes to snakes. I am not like Pokey or Boom and handle these things every Sunday. But I would not kill them just for being in my yard or property. They serve a valid purpose in the cycle of things.

Snakes also do not like humans either, they are trying to get away if you give them a chance. And mothballs work great to get them out of wherever they are bothering you at.

No, I do not know how you pull the moths legs apart to get at their balls either.

I once heard that squirrels can be kept away if you keep mothballs in your flower pots. Tried it. Looked out the window and the squirrel was pretty much juggling it.

Bunch of scaredy cats. There is no reason to kill a snake unless it is poisonous and a danger to people or pets/livestock.Matter of fact King snakes(Chicken snakes)kill poisonous snakes as well as rats and other pests.Ain't nothing like seeing big tough guys run when you pick up a snake.:P

????????

I was just asked to post what I could find, that's all I've done.

Not you, mars told me to shut up, and I feel it was pretty rude since I was not asked for a legal reference.

Sorry you took this the wrong way.

My husband knows I am TERRIFIED of any snake. He tends to make sure I see them when he catches them, I am sure he has some great stories. He never kills the garden snakes Or the little chicken snakes.

Boy talk about someone having a bad day? Excuse me for voicing my feelings. Do you want me to leave as well?

I apologize to you for my comments. Sometimes it is impossible to compensate for the stupidity of the Tennessee Legislature. Next stop is Ron Ramsey.

I have bad days too. But at least I admit to them, unlike the Glock lovers. :P

Well, thanks for getting my blood pressure raised some more and getting me inspred to talk again to the Senator. It also inspires me to Lt. Governor, whose office is about 2 miles from my home.

Shooting snakes is illegal? Even Naifeh couldn't be against changing that. Well...maybe he could....

You know he is against it. Then it would be legal to shoot him.:P

It's just downright F'n hilarious! I was helping a friend work on his house with another friend who was scared of snakes. I was standing beside a partially unrolled roll of flashing, that had been there for sometime. I stood there thinkin "Hmm, I bet that'd be a good place for a snake...". So I hollered at him to come here. Bout' the time he got there, I hauled off and kicked the flashing and sure enough about a 5 foot Garter snake shot out of it. You never seen the like of arms flailin, highsteppin, sqealin' and carryin on. It looked like his knees were up to his ears every time he took a step flittin around there. I thought He was gonna beat himself to death before he go away from it.

Damn, that sounds alot like me....

Paint a female moth on your finger, when he opens his legs, PINCH! I know painting you finger like a girl will get him to do what you want, I've seen it on Tom & Jerry a million times and it's always worked.
