Snake!!!!

Seems to be a lot of discussions about snakes, A lady that works with my wife found this "small" copperhead in her backyard over the weekend. This was in Collierville, right outside of Memphis in a Neighborhood.

If I had enough time to go in and grab a camera, and the snake still be there, the photos would be showing the dead snake in multiple pieces.

Snake is still alive.....somewhere. She went to try to move the snake and it shook it's tail like a rattle snake. Scared her.

She called the police, they said call animal control, called them, they said call the police, she called the zoo, they didn't return the call.

From fence post to fence post is what, 6 feet? If so, that thing streatched out would almost be that long.

I would have introduced that snake to the business end of my shovel. A good snake is a dead snake in my opinion.

No there would be more marks. I would have emptied the shotgun.

Never mind tghe camera, I would have used my M&P40c, I figure with 31 rounds I might have been able to hit it enough times to kill it.

Mothballs work, but a shotgun works better. Yes I know it's ilegal to kill "any" snake in TN. But you are talking to a person who will run over one and back up to make sure I finished the job.

I work with a guy who is terrified of snakes. One day he did just this and could not see the snake in the road afterward. So he drove until he came to a house (several miles) where he knew the owner, pulled up in the yard and blew the horn until he came out. He then cracked the window about a quarter inch (could not have the snake getting in the car with him) and told him to check under the truck for the snake. He took a lot of kidding about that one for a long time.

That is one big copperhead. I've lived in the country all of my life and have seen a bunch of snakes, but that is the biggest copperhead I've ever seen. They are also very aggressive. If you go after one with a shovel, you'd better get it with the first blow.

Under Michie - This is the ONLY law I see on the books about Snakes:

39-17-101. Handling snakes so as to endanger life prohibited. —

(a) It is an offense for a person to display, exhibit, handle, or use a poisonous or dangerous snake or reptile in a manner that endangers the life or health of any person.

( An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor.
