Need new lenses in an old pair of reading glasses

I have an antique (circa 1900) pair of reading glasses, and I really need some new +1.75 lenses made for them. Any idea where I could get that done locally?

MOst places won't custom cut lenses anymore. I think that's just plain BS. I've seen some old frames that are very cool. Likewise, I have been asking for glass lenses which I have discovered are rare to nonexistent nowadays. The latest whizzbang scratch proof plastic blah blah, more BS. Glass doesn't scratch easily, this plastic does. I've been wearing them over half my life and have yet to get anyone to cut me some glass. Now they outright refuse to work with it. Oh well.

Something else I've noticed, 99% of the glasses out there fit into one of a very few categories. They all look the same. In this age of personal expression and the freedom from persecution for being weird, you'd think there's be something different out there than short squatty rectangles, or large goober squares.

Steelharp, if you find a place to custom cut lenses in nashville area, post it if you would.

I like plastic, heavy glass is why I struggled to wear them as a kid, they bothered me and contacts were the best thing to come along when I got old enough for those. It would be cool if you could get glass, but the modern plastics are a big deal.

My new set is amazing. Its really just the plastic lenses + a couple of microscopic screws that hold the nose bridge in place, and more of the same hold some light thin legs on it for the ears. There is no frame. I wouldnt want to sit on them, but they do not weigh anything, super sweet design.

There were a ton of frames when I got these, 99% for women. There were almost no mens frames, a few gender neutrals, and anythign that was a cool color or shape or anything was feminine. It was like a jewelry store, a token item or 2 for the men and everything else for the women.

I love the flexible frames they have now, I had some for about three years needed new lenses and was showing the sales lady my how my frames were still good, flexing them as I was talking, They snapped in half. :ugh: She did give me a good cash discount on new ones though. I joke around with sales people and usually get some kind of deal.
