VIDEO: Memphis IDPA match, using a hat-cam

I've always loved hatcam/hosercam footage from matches. It's like real-life Halo. :D

Getting the gun into the frame of a camera that doesn't have a fish-eye lens doesn't seem that hard. Until you move around while loading, shooting around barricades, etc. My head moves a LOT, as it turns out. Or at least, enough to make adjusting this thing in the middle of a match into a royal pain.

But this turned out pretty well. For a couple of zipties and 10 seconds of forethought, that is.

Here's the video you're used to seeing. A few shooters taped from over their shoulder with a handycam:

Here's just the footage of myself, with all the somewhat-aimed hatcam footage spliced in there:

Things that might be unclear:

The first stage was 1,1,2,1,1 on the upper row (reload) 2,2,2 on the lower row (reload) and finally 1 to each head.

The second stage had a tac-load required after T2 was engaged.

Very nice.

Gunny is going to rip off your head and crap down your neck for shooting him!

Ya'll need a SO class or a refresher on the proper range commands.

Thanks. Nice sig, except that the 19 is better.

Nah...the 27 conceals more easily, and it doesn't shoot those .177 Crosman pellets you use. :D

We get a little lax with proper range commands around people we know and shoot with all the time. Instead of saying "Face downrange and load and make ready," we may say, "Ok Joe, load 'em up." Probably not a good idea, but the formal commands are always followed around new or unknown shooters.

What, you mean "Unload" and "If you're finished, unload and show clear?" aren't the same thing?
