Is that a fixed blade or all knives? If people can't carry a knife 4" or bigger TN knife laws suck.

All knives, in general public. Exceptions for outdoor activities and whatnot.

Not as bad as where I used to live, CA. But this has CA beat in regards to knife laws. In CA you could carry any size fixed blade you wanted and fixed blades you couldn't carry concealed but could have any size you wanted.

I thought with a HCP you could have a rifle with a magazine in the rifle but nothing in the chamber. Or a shotgun with the magazine tube loaded but nothing in the chamber in your vehicle?

Key words being "in your vehicle". If you step outside your vehicle with it that would be intent to go armed except for the allowances provided for hunting.

My understanding is a loaded long gun is permissable for self defense only in your home or on your property.

things sure have changed. growing up i had to walk about 1/2 mile on a public road to get to the woods. no one bothered or cared. officers drove by and waved and went on their way. that was up into the 60s then i got lazy and had a vehicle

It has a lot to do with where you live. I wouldn't worry about doing it here. No one would bother me and if they did stop I'm pretty sure I'd be walking away without an issue.

i used to ride the greyhoung from goodlettsville to nashville get off at 8th ave n go to the dump.its where metro center is now with a 22 and a few boxes of ammo to shoot rats in the dump couldnt do that now
