How do you post an ad in the new classifieds section? I can view the ads, but can't seem to find a link/button to post an ad.

Also, it the WTB section going to be kept seperate from the new classifieds section?

You don't appear to have a current Benefactor membership. That's what is keeping you from posting a new ad.

As for the WTB section, yes... there's currently not a good way for us to implement that inside the Classifieds. It hasn't been decided yet whether we will continue to allow non-Benefactor members to even post WTB ads as it has constantly presented problems when people abuse the ability to do that by trying to sneak in items for sale or trade.

Let me check into it for you. Your account got moved to the wrong group yesterday when I was doing some work and it may have messed up your Benefactor status.

I'm not seeing it in PayPal under your current email address of record here. Can you PM me the PayPal transaction ID please? Thanks.

Just wanted to give everyone a note, it does not look like the classifieds shows up under new content on the forum. You have to click classifieds under the by content type to see the new classifieds.

I'm working on that.

On a positive note, they look good David. Seems easier to navigate through. Everyone being comfortable with a slEazBay set up will feel right at home.

...no offense with the Ebay comparison. Other than format, there's obviously no comparison.

I was able to do an add this morning with lots of stuff on it, tried to do another and it limits the amount that it will show. I added others, but when I submitted it was deleted after a certain point. I went back in 3 times trying to edit it, but it will not display anything I add below the first picture.

I know it's still a work in progress; it doesn't appear to have a "reply" area to the ads yet...

Looks like it's under the (public) Questions tab. Which no one has used yet on any of them?

I don't see a whole lot of point in the needless chatter that so many people filled the ads with in the past. The classifieds are for selling. The forums are for talking.

As for the problem with not being able to add more than one or two uploads, I'll get that squared away.

I've set it so that there is now a 2048 KB (2MB) upload limit per advertisement. Folks, that is a LOT of space. If you're using up more than 2MB to post pictures, you need to resize your pictures. In fact you should always resize your pictures before you upload them. Even an 8 megapixel camera will generate photos that are just too damn big for practical use.

800 x 600 pixels is perfect for most ads. 1024 x 768 pixels is way larger than most things require. If you're uploading a photo that is over 500KB, you're probably uploading something too big.

Ah; so, an interested party has to pm you to let you know. They can't post in the ad itself.

No, as mentioned there is a Questions tab in each Classified ad. They can click that and enter a question and it will let you know.

No, but they shouldn't be necessary with this system either. The reason why so many valid threads got pushed down the list when we were using the forums themselves to do the Trading Post is because there was so much off-topic chatter going on in the threads that kept some of the pushed to the top.

The Classifieds system is sort of the great equalizer in that sense. The off-topic remarks are curtailed, legitimate questions can be asked on the Questions tab of each ad, and the overall value of the system goes way up as the signal-to-noise ratio improves. I can't tell you how many people complained almost daily via the report this post feature about people ruining Trading Post threads with dumb commentary.

Not saying all commentary is dumb, just saying the really dumb remarks made people unhappy.

One thing I really like about the new classifieds is the price shown on an image for each ad. Saves me a lot of time to not open some ads.
