Natural teas for first aid

I have been testing several "natural cures" that seem to be effective. I make a pine needle tea which is good for colds and blood pressure, White Willow Bark tea for pain relief and fever reduction, and stinging nettle tea for allergies and asthma. So far, these have all been effective treatments. They are real easy to make and I add local honey to them to make them sweet and drinkable. Although I am a Doctor, I am not "that" type of Doctor (M.D.), so please do not accept any medical advice from me. Consult a medical doctor before trying ANYTHING. That being said, has anyone ever used these or found others that are effective?

The two that we make most often are sassafras and peppermint tea. We have sassafras growing all over our ridge and mostly use it for a general health tonic, although it also makes a great soothing sore throat wash and home made sassafras candy makes for an excellent cough drop. Peppermint tea is generally used for indigestion and other maladies of the digestive tract. (Also have some store-bought licorice root tea for the same purpose and sometimes combine it with Peppermint tea.)

Not a tea, but we also use dried mullein (AKA Rabbit's ear/Indian tobacco) for breaking up severe chest congestion: Just put several dried leaves into a fire safe container (ashtray, stoneware bowl, empty tuna can, etc...) and light, then extinguish the flame so that it smolders and inhale the smoke. I guess you could also roll it into a cigarette or smoke it in a pipe, but we prefer just a simple smudge pot affair so the smoke is not as concentrated.

I haven't found anything that Blackberry Brandy, Peach Schnapps and especially Moonshine will not cure. I tried "green tea" once...stayed in the bathroom for a whole day with that deal!

Well that's what ya get for mixing brandy, schnapps, moonshine and green tea together!

Like mentioned, the mint tea's are good for digestive problems. So is blackberry bramble tea. The nettle tea is also good for thin blood, it has lots of vitamin K. The inner bark of the black cherry chewed is good for sore throat. You can also make it into a ta but not as effctive. Rose hip tea is great for a cold, very high in Vitamin C.

I use to do a program on Native American first aid so I could go on al day but I won't.
