Tire shop in Knoxville recommendations

I thought there was a thread on this but I'm slow (my intelligence is on par with the average two year old... dog) and couldn't find it.

Turns out my vehicle (2006 honda pilot, I get all the ladies) needs new tires. The tires that came on it are barely serviceable anymore. I mean they hold the rims off the ground and all, and since I never exceed 40 mph I can let of the gas to stop but other than that these things are done. While they aren't completely bald they are achieving that Kojak look.

I don't know what tires to get or where to get them. I suspect I can look online and figure out which tire is decent but I am stumped about where to get them. I know you guys are experts on this stuff so I'll leave my wallet and customer experience in your hands. Much prefer a local company over, say, wal mart or sears, but if the price is right....

I have used Fischer Tire with good success. They don't have wholesale prices but I feel they are in par.

They deal in Michelin/BF Goodrich and Goodyear mainly but can get others. If you can afford the Michelins you probably won't find a better tire that will last longer. Especially in a highway tread. I don't buy them because I need an all-terrain tread, but for the grocery getter, they'd be hard to beat.

+1 for Fischer tire.

Family friends, have always gotten my tires there. Good service, and my last set of Michelins have over 50k miles on them and still going.

Same here, they are the best tires I have ever bought, I got mine at the Free Service Tires on Broadway Near the new Kroger.

FWTW... find a tire place that's convenient and has good customer service. Most of the local stores are getting their tires from the same distributor. I'm sure there's small variations in what the shop pays the distributor based on volume, but otherwise they're all basically the same. Call a handful of local shops, just tell them what you've got, and compare what they have to say.

Try Discount Tire. You can look at their website and find a large selection of tires. Great place and one of the cheapest to buy tires.

Tirerack is where I've gotten all mine for the last 20 years. You can find an installer on their website, also.

Your "lady Getter" could use a new set of Goodyears or Michelins. They're good to use and their tires

are the best. All brands on their site.

Have you tried the Assurance Triple treads by Goodyear? They are the best I've ever had for wet weather.

I don't think it much matters aside from a walmart.

Call around to tire stores and go to where you get the best price.

I have bought tires over the years from all kinds of places. In the end there was no real difference aside from price.

The last tires i bought were from Pep Boys near east town. They were fine to deal with. Before that NTB they were very nice too.

Price is king.

I always used fisher in the past and had great luck and no issues. I believe one of the managers is a patient of my dads and part of the reason my family started using them. My last set I had to get them put on during a day they were closed and took a chance with firestone. I regret it every day I drive my car, do NOT go to firestone. They didn't even balance my tires and I sware they messed up my alignment on purpose. I never had any alignment issues before I went to them, and they did a "complementary" alignment check and printed up a sheet showing how far out of alignment I was and wanted close to $200 to fix it. I kindly declined and plan on getting my alignment done back at fisher.

Firestone, never again.

Also, my mother had a really bad experience with Matlock tires. She was sold a tire that was out of round, and they wouldn't replace it.

I've had good luck with Fisher tire in Farragut. They have other locations in the Knoxville area though.

Stevenson tire on Broadway in Maryville. Best you will ever find anywhere.
