Pistol Caliber AR-Pistol as an 'Open' gun?

Not really sure how practical such a thing would be, especially considering the holster problem... but I don't see anything which would preclude the use of a 9mm AR Pistol in the Open catagory of USPSA. I could certainly see at least a slight speed advantage on longer distance targets if the stockless buffer tube was used as a cheek-rest, of sorts, and ran like a short carbine.

Anybody know?

5.1.10 Handguns with shoulder stocks and/or fore grips of any kind are prohibited. This may cover it, also mag can be no longer that 171.25mm.

It's definitely a grey area... but if the definitions of those features are strictly technical, then and AR pistol such as this (but in 9mm instead of .223) wouldn't really be disqualified:

The buffer tube is technically not a shoulder stock... hence their designation as a pistol, even though that extension is usable to get a cheek weld. And it's wouldn't be bad at all to run with no handguards, simply use the magazine as the grip for the off-hand. And use 20rd 9mm mags...

COST! If the top guns aren't shooting it, it ain't worth it...

I just don't see it being a good option.Poor ergonomics, slow to reload, slow target transition not to mention having to custom make a legal holster for it.
