Speaking of 1911s, here is my new one!

I was finally able to locate an Ed Brown 1911 - in Florida. Did the transaction at a local LGS (am I allowed to thank the kind folks at XXX gun shop?).

Anyways, I bought a Special Forces model with the GIII coating.

More stats - 5" Government model; stainless frame; stainless slide; low profile combat sights with Tritium inserts; and - no other bling, really.

I took it immediately to the (indoor) range and here is the target after my first 6 magazines of 7 rounds (3 mags from 20 ft and 3 from 40ft).

Except for a couple of flyers (operator errors), this pistol is very accurate.

I've put through 100 rounds of PMC 230 gr. FMJ and 125 rounds of Remington UMC 230 gr. FMJ with nary a hiccup so far (taking to the range again this morning). The thing that really surprised me was how softly this pistol shoots. WAAAYYY softer than my other 1911 (which I traded away) and about as soft as my P226. Very controllable recoil. Now the wife wants to shoot it.

Didn't really like the wooden grips, so I got some G-10s for it -

Bought some additional EB "8-pack" mags plus a couple of WC 47DCs. All of them have functioned well.

I also had to carry it in something, so I got some gear from DM Bullard -

Once broken in, this will be my 'home carry" and nightstand protection. So far, very pleased with the acquisition.

Nice! And Guns and Leather is a great shop and when I buy from dealers I'm exclusive to them. I seen the gun shop logo on the target lol :) Enjoy the EB!

Ooooh, nice one. I own several Wilsons and NHCs, but I have yet to shoot a EB. Everyone I know who owns one loves them. I may have to pick one up someday.

Congratulations, good looking 1911!

If you have a XXX rated gun shop you are not only allowed but required to name it!

I need a road trip.
