Wasr-10 mag wobble?

hello i just recently acquired a Wasr-10/63 i have to say i have no issues with the gun, but is the Mag wobble normal? and is there an easy way to fix it or should i just let it be

the mag wobble is from the lack of dimples that other AK variants have. Those dimples are on either side of the magwell and stop it from wiggling I guess.

My WASR has some mag wobble but I don't notice it when firing and it does not bother me in the least.

You can google WASR mag wobble and find a fix for it. Basically one would slap some JB weld on either side of the inner magwell to build it up. Then dremel out the excess until the mag fits tight. Seems like a waste of time to me. The guns run fine as they are.

the 10 part of the descriptor is from the rifles originally being set up to use a single stack magazine that held ten rounds. They are modified to allow for a normal 30 round mag to fit.

It definitely bothers some AK snobs, mainly those that look down upon the WASR on account of its price.

Yes. the mag wobble is normal for WASR's. Stamped reciever AK's usually have big stamped dimples on the sides to hold the mag steady. That particular variety does not. Add to that most WASR's had the mag wells reamed out by importers (CAI) to accept hi-cap mags.

If the rifle functions as is then its just an annoyance. Some have cured the problem with JB weld. Google it.

Probably not, no. I'd check that out. Can you remove it and replace it or is it permanently attached?

I used to own a WASR and it did have mag wobble for the reasons previously mentioned. I never had a bit of trouble out of it functionally, though. The only reason I sold it was because I lucked into a killer deal on a SAR-1, otherwise I'd still have the WASR and be quite pleased with it.

Yes the threads are designed to be loose fitting on the muzzle.

What Mike said. The wobble is usually a result of the WASR's original single stack receiver being opened up to accept standard double stack mags. The dimples mostly give the receiver more rigidity. They help a little with mag wobble. If it works, it it's fine.

or you could sell it, but a saiga, and turn it into the gun you want ;-)...course make sure you get one with the mag dimples...i think all the 5.45x39 models have them but I know some 7.62's don't.

the muzzle brake screws down as far as it can then locks into place. You can back it off a turn but not make it tighter. Like the mag wobble I can"t see what difference it makes. It doesn"t cause problems.

i changed out the original muzzle break for an AR style flash hider. it fit tighter but totally changed the POI.

Just leave it alone.

Mine is a heck of a rifle, I assume yours is too.

yeah neither are affecting the performance the Gun is a great rifle hit a man sized target at 150 yards made me happy

I have mag wobble with my Saiga .223. I'm using 35 round Galil mags with it. But it doesn't effect performance one little bit, so I don't worry about it.
