911 tapes released...

Not sure how they handle things down in Florida, but it seems strange that they would post the 911 tapes http://www.sanfordfl.gov/index.html right on the city's website for a case that is drawing so much attention - and more inportantly, in an ongoing investigation...

Is this standard practice here in TN and can you find 911 tapes as a matter of public record for any cases here?

hmmmmmm....

On Monday, the city of Sanford released a statement in which it condemned what it called "unauthorized leaks," but confirmed that the newspaper account "is consistent with the information provided to the State Attorney's office by the Police Department."

Freedom of information. Yes, 911 recordings along with any paperwork are public record but sometimes may not be released immediately due to a pending investigation. I looked over their website and didn't see anything about the 911 recording.

Yes, just click the link on the main page labeled, "Trayvon Martin Investigation". Listing 8 WAV files and assorted other docs.

OK, I found it. I figure they have probably been flooded with requests for the tapes and probably just put them online so they don't have to physically make copies for each request.
