See if there's a range near you affiliated with the CMP or one that holds NRA high powered rifle matches. The CMP has service rifle clinics that give you an introduction to both the Garand and NRA high power matches. As part of the clinic, you get to shoot 60 rounds through a Garand in match format for $20. I did one at ORSA last spring and loved it.

I had a ball. Would like to do it again but not sure if I'll find the time this spring.

If you supply the ammo and can come to the shop, I can let you shoot my Garand. I'll need to pull it out of the safe, but if you really want to, just let me know.

EDIT: As an afterthought, I will want to know what ammo you plan on shooting through it before hand.

I shot one over 30 years ago, would love to do it again.  Amazingly accurate and recoil was negligable.  I would love to have one, a bit over my price range though.

I need to find that m1 and trade, then.  I shot mine for the first time yesterday, my should is hurtin'!

I'm good on the m1 I got a lead on that I'm wondering if I could use my mosin instead, off topic metalhead sometime soon I want to bring my mosin in to be looked at is there any particular time that would be good for me to either drop it off or have it looked at while I'm there?
