Walther PPQ

Have had a craving for a PPQ in 40 S&W for a while now. Finally made it happen today

at the H'ville gun show.

If you're not familiar, it's a new model out for a few months now, basically a tuned up

version of the older P99. Had one of those & was a really good gun. Traded it for a Glock,

regretted it ever since.

Got it home & had the chance to put a couple of mags thru it before the storm chased me

inside. Shoots great, awesome trigger.

Can't wait to put it thru it's paces some more. Maybe tomorrow if I get the "honey do's"

done in time. Actually, gonna have to cut grass or buy livestock. LOL

There's really only two things I'd change on the PPQ, neither of which would prevent me from buying/carrying one.

1. I prefer a mag release button vs a lever.

2. I prefer a much smaller slide lock/release.

The first can be "fixed" with training.

The second can be fixed with a dremel, as seen in this P30 pic.

The mag release & slide lock lever take a bit of getting used to. The P99 I had years ago had the same mag

release. A little bit of practice will fix that. Muscle memory kicks in.

Aftermarket items are sometimes hard to find. This being a new model, some suppliers are playing

catchup.

There is lots of good info on the Waltherforum.com site.

I had planned to add Trijicon nite sights to mine, but right now most are out of stock. Could go with

Meprolight, but prefer the Trijicon.

Mags can be found, but they're not cheap. A little time will likey increase the supply & lower the prices.

Some of the accessories for the P99 will fit the PPQ. Luckily, I still had the old Galco holster I used

with the P99. The PPQ fits right in.

Be sure to check out the Walther forum. A lot or your questions will likely be answered there.

Had posted this in another thread but in case someone later searches on the PPQ they'll see it too.

Cute girl but a very thorough review I thought.

My buddy's home from deployment gift to himself was a PPS and PPQ in 9mm

He cleaned them up and shot them today.

Right out of the box and he was impressed.

While the "friend of a friend" reference isn't the same as hands-on, he is my go to gun guy...

congrats on your buy!

It's on my list to buy. 9mm. Shot an old school P99 for a few years that my brother owned. Really liked it.

I had an old school P99 myself. Great gun. If you like the P99, you'll love the PPQ.

Just took a good gun & made it much better.
