Signed on about 6 months ago, contributed and made a couple of posts and havent been back lately. Live in MS but wife's family is from Dayton, TN. We should be moving to the Chattanooga area in about 6 months. I plan on purchasing a home and at least 20 acres, will be my final move. Served 23 years in the Military and moved a LOT so I am pretty much done with it. Tennessee will be my retirement home, for various reasons. Once I get my house and land, I plan on building my own handgun range. So if any of you live in the Chattanooga area and would be willing to share some info, some of the things I would be interested in are:

Nice areas to buy a home with land.

Available jobs in the area. For my wife (I am retired). She is in accounting, the sooner she finds a job there the sooner I get to build my range. She wont leave her current job unless she's got somethign to go to.

Rifle and Pistol Clubs in the area.

Ranges in the area.

Good gun shops and Pawn and Guns in the area.

Thanks

Jeff

there may be more but one of the bigger, if not THE biggest rifle clubs in chattanooga is the CRC (Chattanooga Rifle Club). The president is Mark Scott, who is the owner of Scott Bookkeeping here in Chattanooga. He does my transfers for me, good guy. There is also a good club in Cleveland, about 25 miles away. Not sure the name of it but my neighbor is a member of it and brags on it alot. CRC is pretty expensive to join, and can take up to a year or so for them to even look at your application. Thats why I havent bothered with it. A good free range is up at Prentice Cooper WMA, on Suck Creek mtn. Takes about 25 mns to get there from downtown Chattanooga. Beware tho it can get pretty crowded there especially on nice weekends, you may have to wait on a bench to open up. Its still a decent range, and its free. Shooters Depot has a good indoor range with memberships available, I recommend them too. They are a good gun store as well. Probably the most well known pawn shop in the area for guns is Twin City pawn and gun in Rossville, GA, about 10-15 mns away from Chattanooga. They usually have a good selection (for a pawn shop) and will work a little on prices with you, as most pawn shops will. Retail store wise we have Academy Sports, Sportsmans Warehouse, Dick's Sporting Goods, and of course several walmarts to choose from haha. im probably missing a couple. Anyways, hopes this helps.
