Got to play with a post sample PKM

Recommended Posts

Awesome machine gun. The lightest GPMG produced in the world. Weighs in at 23lbs with a full 100 round box on it. Fires from the open bolt at roughly 650 rpm. The only thing I don't like about this gun is the ejection of spent casings. The casings eject from the port with enough force to break the skin. As this particular gun feeds from the right and spits everyhting out the left it puts your arm(on a right handed shooter) in the path of ejection. Long sleves are recommended.

Non disintegrating links = pain in the a$$ to reload. I guess the Russians figured that Ivan had nothing better to do in the field.

It's not difficult at all to load the belts by hand. They made a belt loader that works very good. it can crank out a 100 rd belt in the same time it takes to load a 30 rd mag by hand.

I never had one of those high speed loaders but I heard of them. The first time I trained on a PKM/PKC I remember spending at least two hours opening the tuna cans of ammo and seating it into belts by hand. It was interesting to me the first time I saw an Iraqi do it... their technique was much more perfected than mine.
