African "Nodding Disease" Zombie sickness

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

This might have already been posted. Sorry if it has - I didn't see it anywhere.

http://www.dailytech...rticle24276.htm

Edit:

Interesting that Wikipedia doesn't mention anything about violence or firestarting, nor of the supposed aimless shuffling that the article did:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nodding_disease

Could it be that the media "expanded the truth" to drive traffic to their article? Or should I go conspiracy nut and say that the government is covering up the zombie effects?

Either way I'm thinking it is time to increase my ammo supply ;P

All these diseases that SO FAR stay mostly in Africa are pretty scary when you think of what a world epidemic would be like if they propagated.

And of course AIDS did.

Always thought that something like Ebola might be eventually become the apocalypse. If you read books like The Hot Zone, seems it's already been pretty close a time or two.

Yup!! Every time I go to the Red Cross to give blood I have to fill out a questionnaire.

"Have you spent more than 5 years in Europe?"

"Have you been in X country for more than 3 years?"

"Have you been in Z country for more than 3 years?"

"Have you been EVER been to Africa?"

Yea, that is a fear of mine as well. Not a germaphobe <sp?>, but I tend to live like one.

Africa is one of those continents that, as a whole, I can't say I'd miss if it were to suddenly and spontaneously cease to exist.

Not me. I'd miss their coffee too much.

Yes they won't take my blood. I worked all over Africa fromt the North to the South. Don't have anything transmitable but am still a carrier for several "unlnown" anomlies. Too bad that Africa,India, and China are all breeding grounds for so much pandemic types of infections and bad politics. They are the most rich and diverse cultures to sill experience.

Just my personal experience.

Cheers,
