I'd get one, but it wouldn't be of much practical use to me considering my current situation. Sure is tempting, though...

Definately the way to go for older guns. At one time I could get yugo sks for 89.00, shooter grade. Mosins are about 70.00 right now. Another benefit is recieving the monthlys from century, s.o.g., centerfire. These show what dealers pay and how much mark up. Most dealers are very reasonable but some..well lets just say its an eye opener.

I just recently received my C&R license. I mainly got it for the discounts through the mail order/internet stores.

I let mine lapse after having it 6 years. The surplus market has pretty much dried up and I don't need any more mausers.

+1 on discounts and seeing actual dealer costs. it has saved me several hundred dollars over the last couple of years..... well being able to order guns over the internet probably hasn't "saved" me any money!!

With a C&R can you only buy the old guns? Would you not be able to buy a new gun from some place like buds gun shop & have it shipped directly to you instead of a FFL? Im only asking because I dont know.

With a 03 C&R FFL, you may only have firearms that are classified as "C&Rs" shipped directly to you. They aren't necessarily "old" guns. There's a list on the BATFE's website that gives them. No, with a 03FFL you cannot buy a non-C&R firearm and have it shipped to you.

I wasn't aware of the discounts on other firearms related items mentioned in this thread. I think I'm going to look into getting this type of license. Thanks for the info and links!

Definitely. MidwayUSA offers C&R holders dealer pricing for everything on their site. Definitely adds up on big orders.
