does anyone have any opiones on the the bond arms snake slayer as a persionel defense wepion

General consensus is that 2 shots isnt enough to feel comfortable carrying. For snakes if wilderness i say its ok or if its a backup to your backup gun.

Otherwise there are better options in that size.

what about a 38 j frame with speer jhp as primary

My buddy carries it as back up to his lcr. Or his lcr is back up to the snake either way its cool!

Well, there a cool toy. I don't feel comfortable with only 2 rounds for defense before I would need to reload. You are so much better armed with just about everything else out there. Those derringers weigh about the same as a 357 Snubby that have 2.5 X the capacity. They are well built and reputable. The recoil is hard but doable.

They're well built and hide easily. As above, I wouldn't consider it a primary weapon. It's a bit like tucking an extra fifty in the back of your wallet. You don't intend to spend it but if you get in a bind it may come in real handy.

For a pocket gun a jframe or any of the pocket 9s will be much better. Although i really like my kahr pm40 that i just picked up for pocket carry

I prefer a 5 round S&W 442. It's small and lighweight.

If I remember correctly a Bonds Arm derring weighs about the same as a Glock 26.

A J-Frame makes a great carry gun. I carry my 642 with Winchester PDX1 +P (I believe it to be good SD ammo and it is easy for me to find) but wouldn't turn down carrying Speer Gold Dot. Right now, the 642 is the gun in my carry rotation that gets carried the most often. Some folks feel that five rounds isn't 'enough' but for my lifestyle, threat level, places I frequent, etc. I think it is enough. If wearing jeans, I generally carry a reload in a speed strip. If I am going to a place where I am concerned that the threat level, etc. might be a little higher than normal (or, sometimes, just because I am in the 'mood' to do so) I may carry a semiauto with a higher capacity, instead, but usually the J frame gets the nod.

What he said and bond arms arent cheap you might be able to find a snubby at the same price
