Whoo Hoo for my Daughter!

My daughter is in 8th grade. We had Track and Field Division finals yesterday for the field events. She throws shot put and discus. She qualified for the city meet in both. :P:D

She came in 2nd in discus with a throw of 73'7". She came in 4th in shot put with a throw of 27'2". Only the top four from each event get to go to the city meet. I am really proud of her qualifying for shot put because most of the girls she was competing against were almost twice her size.

Now, if they only had target competitions she would win that also...

Thanks for all the kind words. Had the division finals for the running events last night. She runs the 4x400 relay. She qualified for city tournament in that also.:P I love doing sports with the kids but the meet didn't finish last night till 10pm. I am actually looking forward to track season being over.:P

I logged thousands of miles going to volleyball tournaments all over the South- nothing like being the pilot of a mini van with 5 or 6 13-14 year old female athletes for a few hundred miles.

I wore headphones-- that helped a lot. But the perfume still irritated the h$ll out of my allergies.

Slightly off-topic, but regarding the above-mentioned perfume irritant.

My son had 6 fellas over last Friday night for his 16th birthday. Saturday morning I was awakened by a STRONG stench of cologne. What was it you say?

I got up to find out, and lo and behold one of the boys was up early for a rugby match and this kid must have bathed in that AXE cologne you see advertised all the time. From my bedroom, you have to go through a small hallway and then the kitchen before reaching the living room he was sitting in. Thats how much he had on for us to smell it that far. And actually had it WAKE US UP!!! We had to sit outside until that boys parents picked him up. My sinuses weren't right for hours after he left. It did the same thing to my husband. I can only hope his Mom or Dad told him how overboard he went.

Now back to the regularly scheduled program. :P

ZenDog,

I keep my Ipod handy for just that sort of thing.

TnDixieGirl,

I have just about banned my son from wearing Axe. Doesn't matter how little he uses, the house stinks for hours after he puts it on.

We did the same thing with our son Kahr. Banned it about 2 years ago, had to. The headaches and sinus troubles just aren't worth it. We did buy him some alternatives to choose from. Stetson seems to be his choice now.
