What would you do?

Recommended Posts

Well my local gun store has a good price (I think) on NOS cz-452 that I have been eyeing for a few months. I'm really thinking about jumping on it since they asking about $375 for it which seems fair and I have read about cz making some changes on the new 455 that I don't care for. My dilemma is I am getting ready to move from Ca. to Tn. And while the move budget is not the issue, I really want to get/convert a saiga when I arrive so I've been kinda saving for that. I could always get both by putting back my conversion plans a bit but I'm also not trying to spend too much on guns and such this year. What would you guys do?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think what is making the decision difficult is that these two are at complete ends of the shooting spectrum. I have a romainian m69 as well as an sks amongst others so I don't need either, but do kinda want both.

What does anyone think about the price? $375 seems good for out here but I know there's a bit of a difference depending on location... Also it does have that 28" barrel...

if you are on a budget, a .22 can be shot over 500 times for what other rifles can be shot 20. Saiga you would be shooting rock bottom surplus ammo or it gets pricy fast, and the gun isnt cheap to begin with.

Price difference? I dunno, but I would bet that isnt much over our price for the cz. Looked it up, $375 to $420 roughly in this area for various 452 22lr.

I have a 452 Lux, and it is by far my favorite gun. Great balance, good trigger out of the box, very good iron sights, and a great value compared to other mfg's offerings in the mid-level .22 bolt segment (e.g. Kimber, Ruger, etc.). I haven't shot any true high-end .22s for comparison, but those who have seem to compare the 452 favorably to them If you enjoy rimfire shooting enough to be seriously considering this, jump on it.

That pretty much sums up all I've heard as well. And I had just talked myself out of it too...lol. Just have to see I guess, maybe I'll go take another look at it in the morning.

Very true. It would be nice to have a higher quality rifle able to switch between .22 and .17hmr as aposed to a couple rimfires of varying quality. As stated above it is doubtful they are going to start ruining these things and to tell the truth I have no idea why I like the thought of a screwed in barrel better than a pinned one. Doubt I will notice one way or the next except for being able to swap calibers.

Either way I'd like to hold off on any thing Ca legal until I have some evil black hi-cap something or another and probably a ccw piece as well. We all know how gun budget plans go though...

At this point I'm running out of time for a Ca purchase anyway. Takes 10 days so I'd have to do it this or early next week.

Howdy Brother, and WELCOME to Tennessee. I'm a CZ shooter and swear by the quality and

accuracy of their guns. $375 is a good to fair price for nearly any CZ in good condition.

As far as what your gonna do, that's entirely up to you. All I can say is if you are looking for

an accurate, high quality, moderately priced, rimfire rifle, IMHO you can't go wrong with a CZ.

I have 2 CZ 452's, a Varmint and an Ultra Lux and they are a joy to tinker with and shoot.

Again Welcome and hope the good Lord blesses you greatly here in Tennessee.

Well hey, thanks for the welcome! Yes I believe Tn is a good choice, the people seem friendlier the food is better and you get 4 seasons. The gun laws are icing on the cake.

You guys got me twisted on what to do lol. The rifle reaks of quality, and I do like the model whichever it is(some kind of lux) but as mentioned, is the quality really going anywhere with the 455's? I need to just cool my gun buying jets, and get out of Ca I think. It doesn't sound like I am getting a serious bargain so why add a 6th gun to the freight? I am driving in a mid size so any space I save means more truckstop crap I can fit on the way.

Thanks again guys for the welcome and advice.
