Comrades! Campaign season is upon us! Will we see any of those dreaded Nazi Mausers this time? Heck, we're even opening it up to the allies (ours and theirs). Arisaka? Bring it! Swiss? Bring it! Mauser? You swine...but bring it anyway! No peep sight rifles, though. Can we count on you to defend the Motherland? Come join us on Mississippi steppe and find out.

Date and time: Sunday, May 6th starting at Noon. Rain date TBA.

Place: DeSoto Rifle and Pistol Club Como, MS Directions at http://www.dsrp.net

Equipment: Any service issued 1945 or older military bolt action rifle. Open iron sights only (No aperature or 'peep' sights). Issue sling. No sporters. Surplus ammo only. Basically, bring your cheap military surplus bolt action, junk ammo and shoot. No buying the shoot with your fancy-schmancy re-barreled rifles and hand-loaded ammo.

Course of fire: 200, 300 and 600 yds. 15 rds each stage with 5 sighter rounds. All prone, slow fire with no bags/rests. You can use the issued sling for support. 10 minute block time for each stage.

Prizes: If we have more than 15 guns on the line, first place will take home a Mosin 91/30 courtesy of Mitchell McGehee. Otherwise, we'll come up with something really, really valuable (Yeah, right.) Then again, who knows. You may be surprised.

Adults $20

We will also be holding a short clinic on Mosins at 11:00AM for those of you who are interested .

Anyone who attends the clinic and successfully completes the match will get their long range card signed.

We may have prizes for the best period dress (then, maybe not). Dress like a hobo instead or even wear your church clothes (like we could tell the difference...you know who you are!) Either way, get on your Russian front best and come on out and have fun!

If you don't have a Mosin, Mitchell McGhee can get you one for $130. His email is mitchellmcgehee@yahoo.com and his phone # is (662)292-2466

If you REALLY want to learn how to shoot off the ground at these distances and actually hit your target, consider coming to the Appleseed clinic on April 28-29. You can sign up here. http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=27041.0

Just a reminder. First place is a 91/30 if we get more than a dozen rifles on the line. Other prizes, too!

This is old school long-range shooting. If it's like the last one it'll be at 200, 300, and 600 yards. No scopes, bipods or rests. Just prone with your sling and iron sights.

I'm expecting at least 20 rifles. Don't miss this or you'll be jealous when I post the pictures.
