Don't be nervous. Just go to class, listen to the instructor and take your time. There is no time limit on the shooting part and even if there was, to be 100% honest, it was kind of a joke. The majority of the shots were taken at 7 and 12 feet with a few at 24 and a few at 45 (I think that was the distances.) But again, most were at the close up. You shoot 48 rounds and I can't remember exactly what you had to score. The instructor took one look at mine and the guys that were next to me and said, "You pass" as there was not a clear way for him to "count" all of the hits.

It really is quite an easy thing to do, the hardest part is coming up with the time to do it.

Everyone has given you good info. When on the firing line, use good handgun safety practices. My instructor told the class that there was only (1) way you could fail his course. "He stated that when I am walking behind you on the firing line and you turn around to ask me a question, keep your gun pointed downrange, I don't want to see a gun pointed at me with your finger on the trigger. He said you will be asked to leave at that moment." Well guess what? Five minutes after starting we heard HOLD FIRE! The instructer escorted a young lady out the door. She had done the unthinkable.

Good Luck, you will do fine.

Remember to wear as much tactical gear as possible... including a Molle vest, thigh-holster, day-pack (with CamelBak), 5.11 pants, balaclava and ninja wall-climbing boots. Make sure you announce that you intend to conceal all of this under a trench coat.

You'll pass for sure!

But seriously...

Have fun, learn as much as you can, and when you go out to shoot, remember: front-sight on-target and squeeeeze... You'll do fine. no need to be nervous.

What kind of handgun are you taking?

As everyone has said, don't sweat it. The shooting qualification section is pretty much a joke as long as you don't kill another student or the instructor. If you have a .22 pistol, or can borrow one, use it. You don't have to qualify with the handgun you will carry.

All the questions on the written exam are covered in the class. We had about 50 people in the class. Divided up for the qualification part. Everyone passed.
