I just got my Mini 30 back from Brian at Camodipped.com. He wrapped it in A-TACS for me and did an excellent job. Thank you Waterchicken for posting a link to his website!

very nice. Only gripe I had with the minis was the mag system, they just do not swap out fast & easy. That is a great looking result, couldnt ask for much more (maybe a scope, but thats about it).

You're really making me want to sell my lower and get a Mini. If they had a pistol grip...

Here's a standard tacticool option straight from Ruger:

Other 3rd party stocks exist, too.

Butler Creek makes a folding stock w/grip for it:

My mini came with the ATI stock. Now it has a Hogue, and looks like a regular rifle.

Yeah, for me, one of the main attractions to Mini14 is that it indeed does look like a conventional rifle. After all, it's named for the M14 battle rifle, on which it is based.

It has some subdued badness with that box mag hanging out the bottom :-)

One of mine came with a flush 5 round mag, if you don't want to freak the natives. :)

I've had the Butler Creek folder (felt cheap), a factory all weather stock (too plain) and the original wood (best factory look but dated) on this gun. I wanted to modernize the gun and considered a Hogue overmolded, but I think the cut and shape of the original wood stock just can't be beat, thus the hydrographics.

I agree with you. I like the feel of my factory Mini 30 stock but have been looking for a way to add some color to it. How does this finish feel? I was just wondering if it has any texture or does it make it more slick?

Thanks for sharing. It is a fine looking specimen.

The feel is very similar to the original wood, might actually be a little less slick. The hydrographics themselves are very thin, so don't add much to the texture, but it is sprayed with a low gloss clear coat which is actually what you feel. You can see a little wood grain through the lighter colors. If you don't want to see any wood I would suggest priming the stock before applying any graphics. There are quite a few different patterns and designs available.

I had a mini 14 once for about 2 weeks about 20 years ago. . I cant see me ever selling my Polytech sidefolder AKS but if I ever did I would entertain a mini 30 or mini 14 before an AR. . I cant think of a single advantage the AR has over a mini for the average gun owner. . I remember somones Avatar has something like "the mini 14. . . all the noise of an AR without the complications". . from what Ive been exposed to. . sounds about right to me. . .
