Another New AK!

Recommended Posts

Always liked the idea of an AK74, but never found one to my liking. Well, since I got the 7.62x39 back in the fold, I decided to get a Tantal while I was at it. So far I like it. Haven't shot it and I hope it is one Century got correct. Serial number range is in the corrected series so I should be good. Can't decided if I want to swap the Tantal wire folder for the extra ACE skelton I've got in the closet or not. I've got some black HG waiting to swap out the existing HG. I like the performance of the 5.45 as well as the cheap ammo! Here she is. I'm officially an AK guy again!

I had one of these when they first came out. Mine ran fine with no key holing. It had a slighty canted front sight

that I couldn't tell when purchased only after firing. It ran great. I could never get use to the wire stock. It just

didn't give anything that felt like a decent cheek weld.

I was going to purchase a ACE stock but bulit a Saiga in 5.45 and sold the Tantal. When these rifles came out they were

$650.00. You can purchase one for a song now with all the issues Century had with the rifles a couple of years ago.

I always liked the cartridge. Should be a great shooter. I think Century has straightened up a lot recently. Plus, it's an AK, they'll cycle even if you cut them in half.

In the last couple years I'm told that Century is farming out a lot of their builds and quality has gone up significantly. Personally I think some of the Century problems have been over magnified by internet commandos.

Yeah, I got it for a pretty good price. I thought about getting an Arsenal or convert a Saiga, but I could get 2 of the Tantals and a bunch of ammo for the same cost plus it's different. The Tantal parts of some of the best out there to begin with so Century had a great platform to start with. The Polish can build some great guns. The wire stock is definitely not for the match shooter but it looks cool and the unlocking mechanism is much better than many other options. The last Polish wire folder I had I wrapped in para cord and it helped a lot.

Maybe, but I've been burned thrice, a CETME, a Galil and an AK,,,,all junk.
