Misfire Question

To the OP. One possiblity is a primer that was not seated completely. If the primer is not all the way in the pocket it will move forward when the firing pin hits it. This results in the energy from the firing pin being used to move the primer instead of denting it. For the second strike the primer will be held more firmly and the firing pin energy will compress the primer like it is supposed to.

I realize that this situation is probably more likely the issue if it was a reloaded case or an inexperienced reloader, but just something to consider. I have seen it before (I was the inexperienced reloader.)

Since I posted my initial thought on the FTF, I have taken the Kel-Tec back to the range with newly purchased BB ammo. No FTF after another 100 rounds. So, I do believe it was due to the ammo not the PF-9. I will keep this thread bookmarked so should this happen again with fresh ammo, I'll know what to do. I appreciate everyone's help
