Well, aside from 5.56 I have an 300 Win Mag and a 308 Winchester; I guess I'd be okay with one of those. :)

I'm a sissy. Don't feel like beating the crap out of myself. 50-100 rounds of either of those calibers would do that. It would be a different story if I was trying to drain the blood out of anything bigger than a prairie dog.

BTW: On the Magul Precision Rifle video, they're pushing the 308 out to a mile with a 16" target. I'm just barely though the first DVD, so that's all I know at this point.

Just make sure your bullets are not subsonic before they reach the target.

What would be a more "suitable" gun? :)

as Morpheus said you do not want to be sub sonic at 1k, i too do not like recoil, but of the 2 you listed i would use the 308.

the 300 mag would be easier i would think for someone still learning.

but at the same time by the 10th round if i am luckly i would be flinching so bad only god would know were the shot went. :)
