Hey guys not sure if this is where to post this. But is there a thread on long range shooting fundamentals somewhere on here. Been to ok corral a couple times and I am getting hooked.

I should have specified earlier, but the fundamentals I need help with are proper posture and grip for a long gun as well as proper scope use. Not very familair with optics of any kind. Pops didnt believe in them. At 200 I am hitting the target, but I have no group whatsoever just all over it.

It's at the end of the street in Tombstone, AZ. Wyatt Earp, and all.....

It's also a range in Woodbury, TN.

yeah lol. its the range in woodbury. Has a rifle range for out to 200 yards. owner is a great guy. also has a pistol range. for the money and the hassle freeness of it I think its a great range.

to be honest, with my skill level as it stands right now, different ammo types will not make any difference. I am still learning how to use a scope and maintain a good hold on the rifle. It has been mostly T & E. And I havent had access to reliable shooting info until now.

Oh and what is enos??? Also book reccomendations would be appreciated. I dont reload yet, so I dont need anything pertaining to that as yet.

Thanks guys

Possibly....but ever hear..."sometimes less is more?"

Just joking, I'm somewhat of a smartass, most of the time without the smarts. Most of the guys who know me here, know that. And grudgeingly put up with it.

In all seriousness, there are a lot of very knowledgeable guys around here. Almost too many at times. Makes listening to any one "voice" rather difficult usually. Just ask questions and keep searching.

But I must say, in my opinion, if you are hitting your target at 200 yards, you are well on your way .

I think there was a recent post about a long range shootin class here as well.

Good Luck.

Ha, was kind of expecting that. After doing some searching, I found some range info and a few youtube videos of people shooting there. I live within ear shot of Charlie Hafner's range, but have wanted to shoot out past 100 years and didn't know where to go. Sounds like this is the place! Thanks for the info!

if it is the same bunch i shot with YES, they do. and very helpful.

if you wish to get looks of horror out of them, them you are or want to use a 20" 5.56 AR with factory ammo! :) looking back in was funny, but at the time i was worried,

i promised Morpheus i would not be back until i had a more suitable gun. so i would not scare his other shooters.

but i did pull it off with only 2 misses.

What would be a more "suitable" gun? :)

6mm Dasher with a 26-28" barrel.

BTW... I'm going to try to make the haul with my 24" .223 and 82 grain (and 80.5 grain) Berger Hybids. Should do OK in low winds. Still don't expect it to stand up to the Dasher. Okey was bustin' clays with his dasher at 1000 last weekend. That thing rocks when the wind dies down.
