I need some help understanding this one.

Recommended Posts

I read the following article while I was at lunch today, and I was stunned by the gross imbecility. Seriously, WTF?

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/mccain-calls-u-led-airstrikes-syria-203424110.html

Apparently, John "Big-Nuts Rambo" McCain is back at it. He is now suggesting that we should bomb Syria.

Wow, just wow.

Lets see, my first question. How the hell do you plan on playing for it? We are broke.

Once the airstrikes are over, do you plan to send in ground troops? Once those troops are present, do suggest they should stay 50 years like you suggested of those in Afghanistan?

“These people are our allies,†he said. “They want many of the same things we do. They have expanded the boundaries of what everyone thought was possible in Syria. They have earned our respect, and now they need our support to finish what they started. The Syrian people deserve to succeed, and shame on us if we fail to help them.â€â€¦

Are these the same type of "allies" we have in Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, etc...? I once heard a phrase, "with friends like these, who needs enemies." Hmm, I wonder how someone came up with that one.

Ya know, I respect McCain's military service to this country. It is without question that his service is something he should be proud of and admired for. However, his record as politician, especially in the realms of foreign policy the last decade, has really went off the deep end. The notion of preemptively bombing and/or invading all of the countries is just crazy. Hell, I don't even know how many we are in now.

While I usually try to be more eloquent in my criticism of a politician and/or their viewpoint, I cannot in this case. In short, f*** McCain, Assad, and f*** Syria. If Israel wants to bomb Syria, Iran, or whoever else back into the stone age, God bless them. Have at it. For us, I think we to keep our noses out of it.

I would be all about using our stockpile of bombs (we have plenty) to wipe out an annoying enemy. Not saying syria, today, is the best target (I do not think this is our best choice, and am not going into what would be). But ground troops went out in the 1950s. Does not even have to be a nuke, we have some amazing non-nuclear payloads now. A car bomb son? Terrorize THIS ... while your entire country burns...

Yes, it lacks compassion for the handful of "innocent" folks. But, I value the lives of a city full of "innocent" people in some other country less than I do the life of one USA soldier. And I am tired of the mentality, methods, and stupidity of the terrorist countries.

If/when we get some reasonable and respectable leadership in this country, and if/when

that leadership will show the american people the values of our foreign policy, then we

will better be able to go about intervening in another sovereign country's activities.

I don't really care for John McCain and I don't really trust anyone in DC doing any more

intervening until those conditions are met. We send our troops somewhere with crappy

rules of engagement and an undefined mission and that's what get's us in the shape we're

in.

It would be different with someone other than Obama, and McCain can beat a drum, maybe

even being right on this but I doubt it. I think Israel is getting crapped on by this administration

and I sure don't think we would be helping anyone out with our current leadership.

Go sell some more beer, John.

McCain is just a big nut. Just think, if McCain had won the presidential election three years ago then we would already be bombing Syria. While still going hells-bells in Iraq and all the other places in need of "liberation". Such a shame the feller lost. We could have been well on our way toward saving the world for democracy by now. Not.
