OKay I believe my current build will end up being a SBR. All I need is the barrel and forearm grip. So before I order I wish to get the ATF form 1 done. Has anyone ever done this in Rutherford county? How do you go about getting the CLEO signoff? Did you just go into the Sheriff's Dept and ask to have it signed or do I need an appointment? Was is pretty much hassle free and how long does it take?

I've done it more than once in Rutherford Co.

I'd call ahead just to make sure the Sheriff (or his designee) is in. Took me about 5 minutes each time.

Having said that, all mine were done under Sheriff Jones.

I've not heard of any changes under the current Sheriff.

I have done it 3 times Capt Spence is the guy if you leave it at the window for him and leave a note inside with your name and number to call when he gets it signed he will call next day most times if not 2 days tops, include a copy of your tndl and fill out all the paperwork properly.

Is it normal for there to be a $10 TICS charge when you have capt spence sing off?

No.

But, if that's what you were told, maybe the "new" Sheriff (new since I've done it) is conducting a quick criminal check and charging $10.

I highly doubt they're doing a TICS check inhouse.
