I dont really like it!

Yes, they are real. From what I understand, they are functional and fun. I've never used one, but they simply attach to your handguns receiver, and give it a carbine length barrel. They make them for several models... Glocks included.

They look cheap to me!

Sorry, I never scrolled down to see the photo.

I have seen an attachment like that before in an ad but a better quality one. That one does look cheap.

I've seen those conversions... Never fired one, but their construction seems to be more based on the 'simplistic' theory of relibility than a low-quality manufacturer trying to make a quick buck on a crappy product.

They have been around for a while...

I fired one for a Glock 17 once. It wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of converting a pistol to a carbine though. If I want to shoot a 9mm carbine, I know where to buy an MP5 clone or a Beretta Storm.

Perhaps I am painting with too broad of a brush, but my experience with the Beretta CX-4 Storm was not positive, and would not recommend one.

I had a 9mm version for about a year, purchased in Nov '04 and traded off in Dec '05 for an AR. I had several thousand rounds through it.

From the get-go, mine was un-reliable and required endless tweaking in order to get it to run reliably. I tried all kinds of ammo, and many new magazines... but the bolt would fill up with crud very quickly during a shooting session (due to its blow-back design, no doubt) and would invariably revert to acting as a partially-ejecting single-shot action after less than 100rd. The problem was a weak extractor (clamped to the bolt, free-floating with no pivot point), and too short of an ejector (the ejector was buffered as part of the bolt, and so does not impart sufficient force to the empty case for proper ejection). It would stove-pipe and double-feed 2 out of 3 rounds once warmed up.

When it ran, it was very accurate and fun... but IMHO could never be reliable enough to be used in a 'serious' situation. I would hate to see how quickly one of these guns would choke under adverse or dirty conditions. I was happy to offload mine onto a dealer at a gun-show. Beretta was no help at any time.

My recommendation. Get a 9mm AR upper!

A friend of mine has one for his 1911. I think it's fun to shoot, but other than that, I don't have any use for it. I think it's more of a novelty than anything.

I've never had a problem from any of the half dozen Beretta Storm's I've shot... But then again, I'd rather have an H&K MP5 or clone with a semi-auto trigger pack personally.

handguns are handguns rifles are rifles. Pistol cartridges in rifles have never made a lot of since to me. Rather spend my money on a carbine or a real rifle.

I had a Kel-Tec SUB-2000 in 9mm for a while.

Actually it was quite accurate at 100 yards +. It was a bit funky in its cycle and occasionally acted up. Main problem was that the front sight kept slipping. It's just held in position by friction.

With bullet velocity, I'd think that 9mm would be a better round than 45 ACP for a carbine. Best I recall, you are looking at about 16 inches of drop at 100 yards for the 45.
