New Henry Lever rifle

Recommended Posts

I went to the gun show at the Expo Center in Knoxville today.

I had my eyes on the lookout for a .22 lever action rifle. I found one that is exactly what I was looking for. Bought it from a seller who was selling his collection, anyway that is the story I got. I got a great deal on it too. It is a H-001.

It is a Henry, not sure yet what year it was made. I will contact Henry Repeating Arms tomorrow and see if they can assist me in the year of manufacture. Anyway I doubt it is more than a couple of years old.

The bore looks real good and the action is super smooth. Almost feels like there are no internal parts. I shot a few rounds through it when I got home just to make sure it worked. I think before the day is out I will run a hundred rounds through it just for giggles.

Here is a pic

oooh pretttty!!!

I'm looking for a .22 rifle for Julie nowdays. she wants something she can shoot and not feel guilty about spending so much money on ammo...I don't want a ruger 10/22 unless its got a bull barrel on it...I DO want a semi auto...

I thought about a lever action...I don't know if she'd like it or not though.

Tower you might look for an older Glenfield Marlin or even any other Model 60.

The tube magazine is easy to load and has good capacity. I am not such a big fan of the 10/22. I have a 60 but rarely shoot it. I dunno but I like to feel like I am part of the shooting. That is why I like my bolt .22. I feel like I am doing something. Man with a 60 you can bang through some ammo. It is a funfest to shoot one.

I ran 100 rounds through the Henry today. It was a hoot. The windage was off a little bit so I drifted the sight over a little and got it pretty good. I think I need to find something to hold the sight in place a little better. I think it drifted to easily. I barely had to tap it to get it to move. Anyway I really like this rifle. and am very happy I bought it.

I like the old a bolts.. I had a lever action breech loading rifle when I was a kid. I LOVED that rifle. it was cheap, but I could shoot with it.

Julie wants a semi auto...I don't like the magazines/catches on the savages, and I don't care for the accuracy of the 10/22's without the bull barrel.

I'll find one eventually..till then I guess I'll just look.

Did mark tell you I want to get into PB pistols?

I don't know if I can truck all the stuff around for the reloads.I'm looking into it though.

LOL you will find a way.

I hope you have one the next time we are all able to get together. It would be a lot of fun to make smoke with a few people.

thanks tnmale, Mech and Crook. I tell you I have been fondling it since I brought it home. I am fallin in love with how it looks and feels. The thing shot like a dream. What a nice trigger pull it has to go along with the smooth as butter lever action.

I was amazed I found one there. Mech heard me talking to Phantom about ordering one for me while we were at the shoot yesterday. I got such a deal on this it was not possible to walk away from it. Being it was not NIB it has a little character to it already. So no need to worry over the first ding or scratch it will get.

Gonna make it up to Phantom as for him losing my business on this rifle. He is looking into ordering a Savage Cub Mini youth for me. I am pretty sure we will be ordering it tomorrow or Tuesday. It is for my 6 year old grandson. About the time he outgrows it his little brother will be ready to take it over. Once all the grandkids are through with it the oldest one will get it back to give to his son or daughter one day.

I would be glad to trade money with you, lol. I am on the sell one - buy one plan.

The rifle for the boy has been planned for a long time, just waiting on him to be the right size.

I am poor, hence black powder and .22's

get you pants back and come out shooting :)

Hey Mike,

You are gonna love that Henry. I got one from Rabbi about 6 months ago. It is quickly turning into one of my and my daughters favorite guns to shoot.

Congrats.

I ordered the loop lever for it today. Hope I can install the thing. The guy on the phone said it was not too hard.
