I had the same problem with some 3 inch shells. Particularly those Rio things made outta McEwen or whatever they're called. I had a bur on the extractor that simply need filing down. Is the empty making it back to the chamber and not ejecting, or is it getting stuck in the barrel?

I had some issues with shells getting stuck in the chamber on my express. Its been fairly common I guess since I found a lot of talk of it on the 'net. Ran some steel wool around the chamber to clean up any burs and its run great since! I guess they try to save costs by using some dull reamers.

I am having a problem with my 870 when using 3.5 shells. More times than not, it won't eject the empty. Any suggestions on what to check?

Thanks!

Don't mean to insult you, but the gun is chambered for 3.5" magnum shells, yes?
