You have conservatives on both sides of the issue, even here on TGO. I'm hoping something passes.

Seems obvious that whatever does, will be toothless. Essentially no change.

I'm torn. One side of me does not want the bill to pass. Putting myself in the place of a business owner, If I don't want guns or anything else on my property, I should be able to make that decision.

The other side of me, the side that wants to take my weapon everyplace I go, the side that says "hey, they make laws about everything else like who gets hired, fired, hours worked, medical leave etc., they might as well pass one that that I really like", wants it to pass.

So what does Haslam know that we don't know? Or is the version he's thinking will get passed will be one which allows businesses to still post according to -1359, therefore making the bill pretty much pointless.

My guess is if it does pass it will be with an opt out clause like the local parks have. You folks in rural parts might benefit, but those of us in metro areas won't see much of a change.

I surmise that the intent of the Republicans at this point it to pass an extremely watered down version of a "Parking Lot" bill that will keep the dollars flowing from Big Business to the coffers of the keepers of the faith (symbolized by knees bent and hands out). They will push McCormick's newly sponsored bill, so that they can say it was Republican sponsored, not wanting to give the appearance that a Democrat had anything to do with the passage of a "2nd Amendment" issue. That it will end up limiting the ability of a permit holder, much less the non permit holder, to keep a weapon in their vehicle is of no consequence, and I suspect that there are conversations taking place behind closed doors to facilitate a perception that the Majority fostered such a "fair and equitable" bill that will be signed, and the sound coming through the doors of said meeting rooms is laughter.
