I bet a dollar it was a reduced charge reload with the base of the bullet drilled out. No way he'd just wince and walk off a 10mm.

I remember watching a video of a guy do the same at a body armor demonstration. I think it was early on in the life of body armor and some people weren't sold on it. So he shot himself in the stomach with a revolver while wearing the vest. That's confidence.

The founder of Second Chance body armour, Richard Davis, used to demo his product by shooting himself with a 44 magnum. It was when personal body armour was new and he had to demonstrate its ability to sell the product to PDs.

Back when these were new I had the first vest in the 8th THP District. I went to the academy with a Troop from Memphis who bought the first one there. Because Davis did it, my friend did. In the parking lot of the THP Office. The vest worked but he broke a rib and was suspended for a while. There just isn't anything can be done for born stupid.

i saw a show on History/TLC/Discovery about some body armor manufacturers. One of them (don't recall which one) requires all employees to strap on the gear and take one.

I guess that he failed to notice that Davis shot himself in the stomach? He also tended to put padding under the vest, but when shooting one self 200 times you need that. LOL!

Dolomite, How did you embed the video. There used to be a button for it but I can't seem to find it now.

I actually posted it using my Iphone. I just copied the link in an email to share the video. I do believe you can just cut and paste the url and it will work, I could be wrong though.

ETA:

This is just a copy and paste from the address bare:

I rode a bicycle for 11 years without a helmet. The first time I wore one I crashed and hit my head. First time I carried a tire repair kit I had a flat. I'm not getting a bullet proof vest................!

I take it that the GENE POOL was being cleaned on these specific days that the videos were "shot"....The Darwin Award went to someone else.
