Raven .25

So my grandfather, who is 80, has been on me for months about finding him a .380 after I let him shoot my LCP. So today we were going to look at a S&W Bodyguard, when he pulls this out and says " Do you think somebody would give me $50 for this?" I pulled out my wallet, and handed him $50 as I said, "shouldn't be hard to sell for that." Now, I really don't need or want a Raven .25, and have read up on them in the past to know they are a love/hate kinda firearm. It's just the point it belonged to him. He bought it new in the mid eighties for $60. Only been fired a few times. It has been sitting in a felt lined drawer of a Gerstner tool box, loaded, for almost 30 years. It really is in awesome condition. Hard to get a worthy pic to be honest. I may have to get a new mag(the spring in this one is wasted from being loaded forever) and actually go shoot it a few times. It will be a nice family heirloom after that...

Funny. Right after i posted this, I did a Google search for Phoenix Model Raven. According to Wikipedia, Phoenix Arms bought the design from Raven in 1991. Maybe, my grandad meant mid 90s instead of mid 80s...lol.

The Raven is one of the most reliable of the so called "ring of fire" Saturday Night Special pistols. I own quite a few of them. Your pistol is the last version that was manufactured by Phoenix Arms after the Raven Arms company went out of business. Here is a link to a forum that will provide all the info you need about Ravens...enjoy.

I have the last revolver my grandfather bought in my gunsafe, a Colt Agent, and would never consider selling it. Yep, I would have done just what the OP did with the Raven, just knowing my father or grandfather had owned it.

My grandfather had a little gun similar to this, but one of my cousins took it upon himself that Granny did not need this around after Pop died. Gotta love family. Still pisses me off when I think about it.
