Mossberg 100 ATR

Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? I'm looking to get my daughter one of these as an "entry level" bolt action. I have no interest at all in "Savage" or "Remington". I've narrowed my choices down to "Mossberg 100 ATR" and the "Marlin XS7", 7mm/08 in either.

I've never shot either. But I did research the XL Marlin rifles.

The biggest problem is the extractors have known to break.

Apparently they are pretty weak and just snap off.

Also the trigger guard is plastic, and if you actually try to tighten the screws it WILL crack the trigger guard.

The good news is the extractor can be upgraded with a Savage one with just a little work.

And the Trigger guard can be replaced with one from a 925. All you have to do is drill the hole out larger for the screw and counter sink it.

As for the Mossberg, I have no idea. I uncle has a 4x4 in .300 Win Mag. No problems so far.

But you asked about the ATR....So I can not help.

Ultimately, I'm waiting on a USED 25/06 or .308 in Ruger M77/MKII

Or for the new Ruger American series rifle. They are budget based.

I hope they are at least half the rifle the M77s are.....
