Well the guy is in kentucky so How would I legally go about doing the swap is a FTF meet up and swap legal and if not what would i have to do to make it legal ?

I think you can meet up an FFL and do the transfer. The guns would have to be transferred to the FFL then to the individual. It's a bit easier since you are doing rifles instead of handguns.

Out of state transactions have to be processed through an FFL, period. It's a matter of firearms being sold across state lines. You can perhaps find a shop somewhere near the border of both states where you and he can meet up, do the paperwork, pay the shop and go on your merry way.

I edited my post since I wasn't thinking about long guns, but with long guns, you can purchase/recieve them out of state from a dealer. So if the guns are transferred to the dealer, they can then be transferred to you. I'd call the dealer you are planning to use to make sure they'll do it.

correct, you both will have to pay transfer fees. call ahead and make sure the FFL dealer will not have a problem with it.

You could always ship it to a FFL, and him ship it to a FFL here. There is no way to do a face to face out of state, you still have to have the guns go through an FFL.

Thanks Ill have to find out where he wants to meet and do a search for gunshops in that area then i can call and find out if they are willing to do it then how much they charge then let him know and see if he is willing to do the same.
