powder retailer in Knoxville area

I'm looking to buy some Hodgdon Varget, looking for the 8lb kegs. Saw it at Bass Pro in Sevierville for an outrageous price, way more than it would cost to buy online and ship. But I'd rather buy local and avoid shipping if can find a reasonable price. Anyone have recommendations on other places that might stock Varget in the Knoxville area?

I buy most of mine from David at the shows.

BTW, on some rifle loads yesterday, I tried AA2520 (spherical) for the first time. It meters *very* well. No static cling whatsoever unlike the RL-15 & H4895 (stick) I was also using in my BR-3 powder drop.

Fox and Co carries a pretty good supply of reloading components

Did he get his FFL back?

I know the last time I was in there, about a year ago, he had lost his FFL over paperwork issues. He was still accepting firearms for repair despite not having a valid FFL.

David, You have plans to do the Memphis or Southaven shows?

No reloading supplies at either of the last shows.

Cant say about the FFL. Must not need it to sell reloading stuff because he has quite a bit of it. Prices were pretty good too.

Picked up some wc 842 at the show, going to give that a try with the .223 77 grain Noslers I was going to use Varget for. Near half the price so worth a try.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

David, the WC842 I got from you yesterday meters *extremely* well.

No .204 Ruger load data for 34 gr Dogtowns, so I am scaling up from 35 gr Berger data for CFE223.

I have rounds made up at 27.5, 28.0, 28.5, 29.0,29.5, & 30.0 grains @ 2.250" (SAAMI OAL). Running CCI-400s to start with.

Will test (and see how they chrono) tomorrow hopefully.

Nice powder, Thanks.

thanks for your help in unloading friday ^^^

It was fun, and I learned a few things at the feet of the master.

BTW, I almost ran across Joe today. He lives next door to one of my best friends, and he gave a few of those barrels to yet another. Small world.

It was pretty funny to be able to describe both Joe & the barrels to my firends before they even got started. They said "we got some cool barrels......", and I finished the story for them.

Well, I need to back it off a bit; 27.5 gr WC842 Dogtown ran at 4050 fps, with a hint of cratering on the CCI-400. Did not test the hotter loads, but did run a few 27.0 gr H4895 Dogtown rounds through the chrono again with ~ 3800 fps avg.
