Animal rights group says drone shot down

A remote-controlled aircraft owned by an animal rights group was reportedly shot down near Broxton Bridge Plantation Sunday.

Steve Hindi, president of SHARK (SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness), said his group was preparing to launch its Mikrokopter drone to video what he called a live pigeon shoot on Sunday when law enforcement officers and an attorney claiming to represent the privately-owned plantation near Ehrhardt tried to stop the aircraft from flying.

I'm not saying the guests of the private property owner did or did not shoot down the interlopers' spy platform. I am saying that it would be mighty, mighty tempting. What would you expect from people interrupted in an otherwise legal hunt?

What's the best load for mini-helicopter? I'm thinking some sort of shotgun skeet load. . . . #8 birdshot? Commercial or custom load?

A commenter on another site says: "Three-inch magnum 12-gauge with #7 shot. Shotgun with modified choke on a 26" barrel. Not a tough shot at all. "

Is that about right?

Sounds about right. I know its needs to be a 3" magnum shell and a modified or full choke and the longer the barrel the better (more velocity, more range). I personally just didnt know what size shot would be best.

Sounds like next years event has a great opportunity to add a charity 50/50 raffle to me. Participants pay for a *chance* to win the pot *if* the drone flies into the airspace *and* winner shoots it down (splitting the pot with event). Otherwise, all proceeds go to event focused charity; If someone who has not paid into the pot shoots down the drone, then all proceeds go to charity. Multiple drones, split the pot.
