I don't carry a man purse, I carry a tactical diaper bag. With a 2 year-old daughter and another daughter on the way, it sees, and will continue to see a lot of use. It's a cheapo OD green European school messenger bag from Friedman's War Surplus. It has a butt-load of pockets and stashes, even a built in "holster" pouch. I took off the eagle patch that was on it and added an American flag patch with my Appleseed Riflemans' patch right below it. I wasn't a big OD green fan until I found my Dad's old field jacket from his military days and put it on. Now the two compliment each other nicely.

Can't do backpacks with my back problems, sling packs and messenger bags balance differently though.

Very convenient for toting heat when wearing a tie and no jacket with an extra mag or two, not to mention the iPad, sunglasses case, and some cigs, lighter, ect...no gender bending please ; at 6-4 / 240lbs. / people don't stare too long after they hear my deep voice say "I want to play a game". I got a maxpedition colossus not too long ago before I went on vacation and love it. For the weight of how it sits when loaded down it isn't as comfortable as I would have hoped, and wish it was just a tad larger, but overall its great. I can pack a decent amount of stuff in there but I am worried when I get a 10 inch tablet it will have a tough time fitting in the main pouch. Maxpeditions are definitely well built and will buy another for my next needs.

I have a few of the Maxpedition bags. I started with a Versipack, and and am now using the Gearslinger,( I think the Malaga is the model i have). I like it a lot, and it goes everywhere with me, but want one just a little bit bigger, but still a one strap style and not a bigger backpack...thinking the one I want is the Kodiak Gearslinger. I hate that no one carries many of these in stock locally so i can examine and determine which I like best. Outpost in M'boro has them, but not a great many to copmpare. Ive also looked at the briefcase style of Max bags, but think the Gearslinger series I like better, if I can find the right size.

I have said before, in another thread:

Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett and a whole host of other 'real men' carried 'possibles bags'. These bags were more or less leather pouches, slung from a strap over their shoulder. I doubt anyone would have wanted to tease them about carrying a 'purse'. I really doubt anyone would have wanted to do so twice.

I still haven't found a good EDC bag. I want something big enough to hold the crap I want/need to carry but not so big that it gets in the way all the time. I've actually considered making a 'replica' of one of those old 'possibles bags' and probably will, one of these days.
