Admittedly the earth being blown out of orbit, or its fragmentation due to underdamped oscillations-- Serious risks though trivial relative to the most fatal flaw--

Our true peril springs from the dangerous work of Nikola Tesla and his IFACES invention, the InFernal AC Electrical System. Edison was correct that AC is dangerous. Edison was right that DC is obviously superior. But Edison, wise as he was, did not understand the most significant hazard of Tesla's Satanic AC Technology. Perhaps Tesla was a well-intentioned but short-sighted man honestly in error. On the other hand, perhaps Tesla and Westinghouse were fully aware of the danger but willing to sacrifice the Earth for their greed, knowing full-well that they would all be dead and gone long before the tragic flaw is discovered. History will never know.

Our earth is shielded from radiation by the ozone layer. The ozone layer is held in place by the geomagnetic field (which also acts as a radiation shield). The ozone layer would blow away without the geomagnetic field. Without the geomagnetic field, eventually the solar wind would strip the earth's atmosphere, leaving it dry and barren as Mars-- Nearly barren as Copperhill TN! It is not impossible that eons ago the Martians may have gone extinct because of alternating current!

Tesla should have known that eventually all continents would have vast spiderwebs of power transmission lines. Each continent's giant power grid would be phase-locked from coast to coast-- Otherwise power transmission between localities would be impossible.

The unintended consequence of continental phase-locked power grids-- This Satanic AC Network functions as a GSDC, a Global Scale Degaussing Coil! In the name of progress, plenty, and convenience, we have been unwittingly De-Magnetizing Our Planet For More Than A Century!

In recent decades, geologists noticed weakening of the magnetic field but because geologists are typically untrained in electrical engineering, and sometimes even have difficulty changing light bulbs-- Geologists attributed the weakening magnetic field to a natural cyclical geological process which may have occurred many times in pre-history. If only one geologist had ever learned ohm's law we may have been saved from the tragedy of DMOPFMTAC before it was too late.

It is probably too late even if we power down the grid today. It will most certainly be too late if we do not. The geomagnetic field will die forever. First the radiation will damage crops and cause massive-scale famine, skin cancer and cataracts. Then mutations will make current species unrecognizable-- Giant Dandelions larger than Oak Trees! Cow-Sized Squirrels with orange scales, prehensile wings and tentacles. Women with compound insect eyes and freakishly large Dolly Parton breasts (well, maybe it won't be all bad).

Such tribulations will not ultimately matter because eventually the solar wind will boil off the atmosphere and the horrible mutations will go extinct, leaving a dead dry husk of the Once Glorious Planet Earth.

Perhaps the only hope-- If it is not already too late-- Return to Direct Current as Edison Intended! Retrofit the power grid for DC. Interconnect the continents so that DC current circumnavigates the planet. Such modification will convert the power grid from a Global Scale Degaussing Coil into a PSEM, a Planetary Sized Electro Magnet.

If we can implement a PSEM soon enough to save the earth, we must warn our descendants. Our descendants must be instructed to permanently power down the PSEM by the year 2112, after the earth has been re-magnetized to optimum intensity. If our descendents are too foolish or ignorant to unplug the PSEM on schedule then the earth will become over-magnetized. The magnetic field would pull iron asteroids out of orbit. The earth would die in a flaming meteor bombardment lasting thousands of years. Bombardment of magnitude never seen except possibly in the earliest phase of accretion and planet-building. If that were not bad enough, the over-magnetized Earth would also act as a lightning rod and attract every solar flare right down on our heads.
