Hey all!

I have in my care, a L.C. Smith Damascus double barrel 10 gauge shotgun. I am trying to figure out how to get the pictures posted, but i am interesting in seeing if any of you expertsno much about them. Any information is great. I am trying to get a feel for the value as well. It seems to be a fine firearm!

Thanks.

wally: Any L. C. Smith double is a great thing. They were the "standard" of hunting shotguns in this area (...east tennessee...) for many a year.

All my dad's uncles were dedicated bird hunters. They all either owned or were working to own an L. C. Smith double. Take a look (...or call...) Cherry's Fine Guns and talk to them. They can value it pretty close. I trust them.

Hope this helps.

Thank you leroy. A rare gem, your tip is. I guess I should start looking for a similar place out here near Nashville. I only make it out east a couple if times a year. I wish I could shoot it, but that's unlikely. As far as the kick goes, shamefully someone lost the metal butt plate and put some rubber recoil reducing pad on it. Thanks for the info and feedback.

My dad has a LC Smith 12 gauge that I shot several time throughout my childhood. Unfortunately, I actually know very little about the history of the brand. I would definitely be careful with the damascuss barrels if you decide to shoot it. I would imagine that as long as the barrels are in good shape, you could use some very light hand loads. I am no expert and don't take my word on that. Either way, enjoy your beautiful side-by-side!!

Wells Fargo issued a 10 gauge Double LC Smith well into the 1930's ( train shipments ) marked W.F. & Co.

I have my grandfather's 'LC'.....it is still in very good condition and a shooter. I've shot pheasant out in SD with it just for ol' times sake. I won't shoot anything heavier than a standard trap load of handloaded #7 though. Look forward to passing it on to my son and grandson.
